Fired Up for Emergency
Contraception
The 3rd Friday of every month
is Emma Goldman Clinic day at Fired Up Iowa City, inc. On this day, 10%
of proceeds will be donated to Emma Goldman Clinic. Fired Up Iowa City,
inc. is a locally owned and operated paint your own pottery business
located at 112 S. Linn Street, across from the Iowa City Public Library.
On Friday, October 15, Emma Goldman
Clinic will have a staff person on site from 5-7pm to talk about
Emergency Contraception, the morning after pill. General reproductive
health care information will be available.
Fired Up Iowa City, inc., has been a
long-term supporter of Emma Goldman Clinic’s free quarterly newsletter,
Emma’s Journal. “We support Emma Goldman Clinic because
reproductive health care services, including abortion services, is a
human rights issue,” stated Nancy Westvig, one of Fired Up’s co-owners.
“We also think it is good for our business to be associated with such a
long-term and respected non-profit organization as Emma Goldman Clinic.”
“This is a fun way for a business to
support Emma Goldman Clinic,” said Karen Kubby, Executive Director of
the Clinic. “We think it’s a win, win situation for both Fired Up and
for the Clinic. We will encourage our clients and supporters to go to
Fired Up on the third Friday of each month as a way of supporting both a
local non-profit health care provider and a local business.”
Fired Up Iowa City, inc.’s fall hours
are Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 6pm, Wednesday, Friday, and
Saturday from noon to 8pm. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. For
