Abortion
Topic of Film and Post-screening Discussion
The Emma Goldman Clinic will host a post-screening
discussion of Lake of Fire, an acclaimed documentary about
abortion in the United States. The special showing with discussion will
be held on Monday, December 10 at 6:30pm at the recently renovated Bijou
Theater located in Room 166 of the Iowa Memorial Union.
Directed by Tony Kaye, Lake of Fire retains
a decidedly non-biased perspective on abortion. Newsweek raves,
“Wherever you stand on the volatile issue of abortion, Tony Kaye’s
exhaustive documentary could dislodge your certainties with a broad
survey of opinion from opposite (sometimes violent) extremes and
explicit depictions of medical procedures.”
The film is 152 minutes long and will be shown at
the following times:
Friday, December 7 at 6:00pm
Saturday, December 8 at 6:15pm
Monday, December 10 at 6:30pm (to be followed by a Q&A led by the Emma
Goldman Clinic)
Tuesday, December 11at 6:00pm
Wednesday, December 12 at 9:00pm
Thursday, December 13 at 6:00pm
