Open House Celebrates 34th Birthday
of the Emma Goldman Clinic
As a way of celebrating their 34th Birthday, the Emma Goldman Clinic is
inviting the supportive public to an Open House. On Friday, September 7,
2007 from 5-7pm, the Clinic will open its doors to the community. Tours
of the facility, food, drink, party games, and live music will be
offered.
By offering this opportunity, the Clinic hopes to demystify the services
it provides. Many people believe that the sole service offered at the
Emma Goldman Clinic is abortion care. 53% of the Clinic's clients come
for gynecology services, while 34% come for abortion services. Massage
therapy and a donation-based walk-in clinic make up the rest of the
services provided by the Emma Goldman Clinic
"We are a proud abortion provider. Yet, it is important that people
know that most of the health care services we provide are within our
gynecology clinic," stated Karen Kubby, Executive Director of the Emma
Goldman Clinic.
Besides the tours, conducted by Clinic staff and Board members, there
will be beverages by Millstream Brewery from Amana, a condom art table,
and a rubber duck quiz game. Marv Hain, Jr. will provide live musical
entertainment.
Marv competed in the Clinic's music competition, Emma Rocks! last
spring. He wrote a folk song about Emma Goldman and will be performing
that song and other original music at this event.
Suggested donation is $25, although all are welcome at whatever level of
support is appropriate for a particular individual or household. For
more information or to request an accommodation to attend, contact Toni
at (319) 337-2112.
