Patty Judge to Speak at Emma Goldman Clinic
Fundraiser in Cedar Rapids
Patty Judge, Iowa's Secretary of Agriculture, will speak at a fundraiser
in Cedar Rapids for the Emma Goldman Clinic. This event and will be held
on Sunday, September 25 from 3-5pm in the Clark Alumni House on the Coe
College campus. The Honorary Chair of this event is Joan Lipsky.
The focus of the gathering is to talk about the gynecology services
provided by the Emma Goldman Clinic and to raise funds to subsidize the
$25,000 sliding scale fee structure. These subsidies help clients have
financial access to reproductive health care services such as annual
exams, pregnancy prevention services, and sexually transmitted infection
testing and treatment.
Karen Kubby, Executive Director of the Emma Goldman Clinic stated that,
"many people believe that the sole service offered at the Emma Goldman
Clinic is abortion care. 51% of the Clinic's clients come for gynecology
services, while 36% come for abortion services. Massage therapy and our
donation-based walk-in clinic make up the rest of the services provided
by the Emma Goldman Clinic."
"We are a proud abortion provider. Yet, it is important that people know
that most of the health care services we provide are within our
gynecology clinic," she went on to say.
Suggested donation for this event is $20, although all are welcome at
whatever level of support is appropriate for a particular individual or
household. For more information or to request an accommodation to
attend, contact Karen Kubby at (319) 337-2112.
