Emma Goldman Clinic Spring Benefit is
Friday, May 19
Friends of the Emma Goldman Clinic are invited to
attend its Spring Benefit, an evening of art and auction on Friday, May
19th at The Galleries Downtown,
218 E. Washington St, across from the Englert
Theatre. This fundraising event is from 5-8pm.
This is the same date as the first night of the Friday Night Concert
Series. Parking is available at three nearby parking ramps all within
blocks of the gallery.
“We’re excited that once again The Galleries Downtown
have welcomed us into their space for this event,” said Toni Serio,
executive coordinator for the clinic. The Emma Goldman Clinic is a
non-profit feminist reproductive health care facility that has been
serving the region for over 30 years. Hors
d’oeuvres, wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverages will be complimentary.
“We are very happy to have the community come together for this event.
We have had donations from so many local businesses, artists, and
community members. It’s great to know the clinic has this much support,”
said Karen Kubby, executive director of the Emma Goldman Clinic.
The Emma Goldman Clinic will be continuing
their tradition of having a silent auction of themed baskets. These
baskets vary widely in their contents including food gift certificates,
tattoos, toys, cosmetics, and household items. At the end of the night substantial
prizes will be given away through a raffle drawing. Winners to not have
to be present at the end of bidding or at the time of the raffle
drawing.
There is a suggested donation of $25 for the Spring
Benefit, however supporters’ presence and donation of any amount is
encouraged. For more information, contact Toni at (319) 337-2112. By
attending the event, the community will be able to view the art at the
gallery and show support for a local reproductive health care clinic.
“I’m very excited for this year’s event.
Our volunteers and board members have worked very hard with local
businesses and individuals to help make this event a success,” said Toni
Serio.
