EMMA ROCKS!

Emma Rocks! is a fun and exciting musical event to benefit the Emma Goldman Clinic.  It is a musical competition open to vocalists (individuals and groups) of all ages.  This event will be held on Saturday, March 29 from 7pm-9pm at the Englert Theatre in downtown Iowa City.  Application materials are available on the web at <http://www.emmagoldman.com/>www.emmagoldman.com and at the Emma Goldman Clinic, located at 227 N. Dubuque St..

All applications, fees, and audition materials are due Friday February 29, 2008 at 5pm.

This fundraising event is a collaborative effort between the Emma Goldman Clinic, the Englert Theatre, Dave Zollo, United Action for Youth, J Frahm Music, The Guitar House, Summer of the Arts, Community Television Services, and Creative Crossroads.

8 to 15 performances will be chosen through the application process.  The audience will vote for the top three performances at the March 29th event.  A panel of judges will chose the winner of Emma Rocks!

Winners will receive prizes:
1st Place:  a 45-minute set on the mainstage at the Iowa Arts Festival and a feature article in Creative Connections monthly arts and culture magazine.
2nd Place:  recording a demo tape with Dave Zollo at the studios of United Action for Youth and a music video produced by Community Television Services.
3rd Place:  An Arbor acoustic guitar with backpack case from J Frahm Music and 4 guitar lessons from Bill Hook from The Guitar House.

The Emma Goldman Clinic is looking for individuals or groups from all music genres.  Anyone who has a current recording contract with a record label is not eligible to apply.
