10 things YOU can do to save Choice!

1) Make sure you and your friends are registered to vote

It sounds like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised who you know that doesn’t vote. If we all bring 5 friends with us to the polls we can make the 2004 election a landslide victory for Choice!

2) Have a house party for EGC

As you’ve read in our previous newsletters, we’ve had the bills piling up on us. Our legal fees alone are edging towards $30,000. A House Party is a fun way for you to be social with some of your friends and raise money to keep us going.

3) Nominate EGC for the True Blue Campaign

If you can’t donate money yourself, or you can but you still want to do more, this is a GREAT way to help us out. Iowa State Bank & Trust is giving $100 each week to a different local non-profit, and EGC qualifies! Just visit www.goiowacity.com/trueblue/default.asp to fill out an entry form and get us in the running.

4) Vote early so others can vote

You can vote early by absentee, or visiting your county auditor’s office. If you get your duty out of they way you can offer to watch people’s children so they can vote, or drive people to the polls, or volunteer to make last minute reminder calls to other registered voters.

5) Write letters to the Editor

This isn’t just an election year strategy. We need everyone to write in responses to anti-choice articles and letters. Most newspapers are set up for you to email in your letters.

6) Contact your Reps

Call, email, write, and generally chat-up all of your elected representatives and candidates to tell them that they need to vote Pro-Choice to receive your support.

7)Break the Silence

You would never know it by listening to people but 37% of American women will have an abortion in their lifetime and at least 50% of pregnancies are unplanned. Talking about our shared experiences not only comforts those going through the same thing, but it lets everyone know how important reproductive freedom is. Need help breaking the ice? Visit abortionconversation.com for ideas.

8) Keep close to your Reproductive Health Care Provider

By being on our e/mailing list and checking our website regularly you can know about the most up-to-date actions you can be helping with. Also, come to Emma for services! You can get all of your gynecological needs met here, including menopause consultations, and you can bring the kids (boys too) here for their sports physicals!

9)Volunteer

We have many things around the clinic you can do. You can come for mailing parties, help out at our dog wash or other events, or apply for specialized volunteer positions in the clinic.

10) Vote Pro-Choice!
