Non-Surgical Abortion
The Non-surgical abortion uses the drug
Mifeprex®, which is also known as
RU-486. This is NOT the same as Emergency Contraception, also known as the "Morning
After Pill".

Contraception please click

A non-surgical abortion is done through a
series of visits to the Emma Goldman
Clinic.
Initially, you will be examined to determine how many weeks pregnant you are.
If the pregnancy has been determined to be 63 days (9 weeks) or less from your
last menstrual period, you will take Mifeprex®. Mifeprex® is a medication that
blocks progesterone, a hormone necessary to maintain a pregnancy. Less than
3% of women will abort the pregnancy after taking the Mifeprex®.
Two days after the first visit you will take a drug called misoprostol. Misoprostol causes
cramping and bleeding similar to or heavier than menses. This is what
expels the pregnancy.
You will return to the Emma Goldman Clinic 14 days after the initial visit for a
check up to confirm that termination of your pregnancy was complete and there
have been no complications.

option, you can visit the Mifeprex®
